Abril decisions Tatli
Cuba's WBA lightweight world champion Richar Abril (19-3-1, 8 KOs) defeated hometown challenger Edis Tatli (23-1, 7 KOs) by a 12 round majority decision on Saturday night at the Hartwell Arena in Helsinki, Finland.
Tatli was throwing power shots throughout and did connect with some good left hooks to the head, but he would get picked off again and again by Abril and the champion took more rounds.
Abril, finally making his second defence of the belt after 18 months of inactivity, won by scores of 114-114, 116-112, 117-111.
After his controversial split decision loss to Brandon Ríos in April 2012, the WBA allowed Abril to keep his interim title and elevated him to regular champion 4 days prior to his points win over Sharif Bogere.
