The eagerly-awaited IBF welterweight title showdown between Britain's Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KO’s) and champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KO’s) has been set for August 16 in Carson, California.

Brook, who has been mandatory challenger for the IBF’s title for over 18 months, was originally set to challenge the American on August 9 but contracts were not finalized in time and the bout was put back until September 6.

"We have spoken to Golden Boy (Promotions) and after originally being told the fight would be September 6, we are now aware it will take place on August 16 at the StubHub Center in Carson." IBF chairman Lindsey Tucker confirmed.

Now that there’s a date and venue for the fight, Brook can focus on trying to get ready for what will likely be the hardest night of his career in just under six weeks.

Also on the card, WBC super middleweight champion Sakio Bika will defend his title against Anthony Dirrell in a rematch, their first meeting ended in a split decision draw in December.
