German heavyweight Erkan Teper failed a drugs test following his second round KO victory over David Price last July, according to reports in both Germany and Finland.

If the allegations of doping are true, Teper could face a potential ban and the result of the bout could be changed to a no contest.

In response to the news, Price’s promoter, Kalle Sauerland issued the following statement: "If the reports are true that Erkan Teper was doped then of course that is a disgrace and he must be banned for a lengthy period.

"However, for me perhaps even the bigger disgrace is the handling of the matter by the BDB (German Boxing Commision). The fight was five months ago. The results would have been known within a few weeks but they were not made public.

"Teper could have fought as a drugs cheat and earned money in the meantime whilst Price has been cheated out of position in the sport for almost half a year. I am sure there will be a legal case for the BDB to answer."

Teper was scheduled to face Robert Helenius last weekend before pulling out due to a shoulder injury.
