Undefeated American Omar Figueroa (25-0-1, 18 KOs) outpointed Scotland's Ricky Burns (37-5-1, 11 KOs) on Saturday in a light welterweight bout on Saturday afternoon at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas.

The former world champions battled hard but it was Figueroa's all-action style that earned him scores of 116-110 from two judges and 117-109 from the third.

Burns was deducted points for holding in rounds eight and eleven by referee Laurence Cole.

Also on the card, Britain's Jamie McDonnell (26-2-1, 12 KOs) defeated previously unbeatenTomoki Kameda (31-1, 19 KOs) of Japan by a unanimous decision to retain his WBA bantamweight title.

McDonnell was floored by a hard right hand in the third round but used his superior reach to gain control of the fight and won by scores of 114-113 from all three judges.
