George Groves (25-3, 18 KOs) will challenge for the vacant WBA super middleweight title against former champion Fedor Chudinov (14-1, 10 KOs) on the undercard of Kell Brook's IBF welterweight title defence against Errol Spence Jr on May 27 at Bramall Lane in Sheffield.

It is Groves' fourth attempt to become a world champion after losing twice by knockout to Carl Froch and once by split decision to Badou Jack.

The Briton has won four consecutive fights since, including a unanimous points win over Eduard Gutknecht last November to retain his WBA International super middleweight title. The German was taken to hospital after the fight and underwent surgery for swelling to the brain.

Chudinov's only defeat came when he lost the WBA title on points against Germany's Felix Sturm, who tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid Stanozolol after their February 2016 bout.

Sturm vacated the belt before he probably would have been stripped for the failed test, and the Russian fighter now has a chance to reclaim the world title.

Germany's Tyron Zeuge (19-0-1, 11 KOs) holds the WBA 'regular' belt, while the winner of Chudinov-Groves will be awarded the 'super' title.
