IBF cruiserweight champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez (28-1) scored a 10th round KO over Alexander Alekseev (24-3-1) on Saturday night at the Stechert Arena in Bamberg, Germany.

The Cuban southpaw dropped Alekseev with a straight left at the end of round two. The Russian challenger came back well though, working well behind his jab and landing some solid right hooks but then, towards the end of the 5th, Hernandez caught him with a overhand right that put him down hard. However, he did get up and survive the storm.

From that point Alekseev took over the fight as Hernandez seemed to fade. His right eyebrow was now cut and troubling the champion.

In the 7th, Alekseev staggered Hernandez with two big lefts which forced him to clinch. But Hernandez fought his way back into the fight and it was during the 10th when he caught Alekseev flush with a short right hook that sent him down for the full count at 1:35 of the round.
