I'm bigger and stronger then Canelo, says Trout

WBA light middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-0) sees himself as the bigger and stronger and more talented fighter then his opponent WBC light middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (41-0-1) ahead of their unification fight on Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Live on BoxNation.

Trout said "I feel I'm the bigger and stronger guy. I'm going to prove it on Saturday, they say he's the stronger guy, he's not. He hasn't fought anyone my size."

Trout totally outboxed Miguel Cotto in December who had only been beaten by Antonio Margarito (a defeat he avenged), Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao so there's no doubt that Trout is a world class fighter. But unlike Canelo, he is not a superstar. In fact, Canelo is a boxing rockstar.

Trout captured the WBA belt on the road in Mexico beating Rigoberto Alvarez in February 2011.

Younger brother Saul sat at ringside and watched his sibling get thoroughly outboxed. Such a revenge win was on his mind for two years, though only now allowed to grab the chance to restore family honor.

"It's a blood revenge that I'm looking at," Alvarez admits. "I very motivated for it. I was there at the fight when he beat Rigoberto, my brother. And I felt such a inability to do something but now it's here and I'm motivated and that is a big factor."

This is a test for both fighters due to their styles and temperament.

Alvarez still just 22, is a straight forward power puncher who likes to put on pressure and slug it out. He doesn't play tactical games.

Trout, 27, is a southpaw and while Alvarez likes southpaws, Trout is a tactical counterpuncher. It's not a style fans always like but they like it fine when a fighter keeps winning big and that's exactly what Trout keeps doing against quality opponents who were supposed to beat him.

The fighters weighed in before a huge crowd in San Antonio on Friday. Alvarez weighed 153.5 pounds, Trout 153.25 pounds.

It's a big risk, big reward fight for both boxers, they know it, the fans know it, and the atmosphere will be electric.

The undercard fight will benefit from the energy and attention of the main event. Lightweight Omar Figueroa Jr (20-0-1) of Weslaco, Texas fights Puerto Rico's Abner Cotto (16-0), who is Miguel Cotto's cousin, in a 10 rounder. This is another battle of unbeatens and more formidable competition for both boxers.
