WBA middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) stopped former world champion Sergio Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) in a rematch on Friday night at the Santander Arena in Pennsylvania.

American Jacobs dropped countryman Mora five times en route to a 7th-round stoppage.

In the first fight, the pair exchanged knockdowns before Mora injured his ankle in the second round.

This time, the champion dominated the bout from the start.

Mora Jabbed and moved but he could not avoid Jacobs' power punches.

Jacobs rocked Mora with several hard shots early on and knocked him down in rounds 4 and 5.

As the fight progressed, Jacobs connected with more solid punches which staggered Mora in the 6th.  Mora was on shaky legs as Jacobs continued to punish him and he dropped the challenger three times in the 7th before Mora’s corner threw in the towel at 2:08 of the round.

Jacobs has now scored 12 KOs in a row and retained his WBA 'regular' title for the fourth time. Gennady Golovkin, who fights Kell Brook on Saturday, holds the WBA 'super' title.

If Golovkin beats Brook, WBA president Gilberto Mendoza said that he would order a fight between the Kazakhstan fighter and Jacobs next.

"I want to prove to the world that I’m the best middleweight," said Jacobs. "If GGG gets the victory tomorrow, that’s who we want."

Also on the card, Robert Easter Jr (18-0, 14 KOs) scored a 12 round split decision over previously unbeaten Richard Commey (24-1, 22 KOs) to win the vacant IBF lightweight title.

Easter was busier in the early rounds, but the Ghanian fighter continued to press the action and started to land some hard shots. Commey scored a knockdown, forcing Easter to touchdown in the eighth. But the American rallied late and rocked Commey in the final round.

The Judges scores were 115-112, 114-113 for Easter and 114-113 for Commey.
