Jamie McDonnell (21-2-1) has been stripped of his IBF bantamweight title.
Negotiations with mandatory challenger Vusi Malinga (24-4-1) have not been finalised for the 27-year-old to defend the title in the designated time period.
"Jamie McDonnell did not supply signed contracts for his mandatory defence scheduled for November 9 within the prescribed time according to IBF rule," read an IBF statement.
The Doncaster man won the vacant belt with a majority points decision over Julio Ceja at the Keepmoat stadium in his hometown in May.
