Jamie McDonnell-Tomoki Kameda rematch set for September 6

WBA bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell (26-2-1, 12 KOs) will defend his title against Tomoki Kameda (31-1, 19 KOs) in a rematch on Sptember 6 at American Bank Center, Corpus Christi, Texas.

In their first fight, the Doncaster man claimed a dramatic victory, getting off the canvas in the third round to score a unanimous decision over the Japanese fighter to retain his title in May, also in Texas.

But McDonnell got the verdict by the narrow margin of 114-113 on all three cards, and said after the fight that he would be happy to fight Kameda again.

Also on the card, former WBC super-middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell will take on Mexico’s Marco Antonio Rubio.
