Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury rescheduled for May 6

WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (22-0, 18 KOs) will now be defending his title against British challenger Hughie Fury ((20-0, 10 KOs) on May 6  in Auckland, New Zealand, instead  of the original date of April 1.

The fight between two young unbeaten fighters was moved because Fury, 22, delayed signing the contract due to his father and trainer Peter Fury having issues regarding being allowed into New Zealand due to his criminal past.

Parker, 25, who won the vacant WBO heavyweight belt last December after he beat Andy Ruiz on points, is aiming to successfully defend the world title that was vacated by Tyson Fury, Hughie's cousin, before moving on to big money unification fights.

The New Zealander was at ringside watching WBC champion Deontay Wilder defeat Gerald Washington last Saturday night and Parker is set to fight the American next if he beats Fury.

WBC have ordered Wilder to fight former champion Bermane Stiverne in his next fight. However, unification fights are usually given the go ahead by the WBC to take place before a mandatory defence.
