Oguni outpoints Guzman to win IBF super bantamweight belt

Yukinori Oguni (19-1-1, 7 KOs) dethroned IBF super bantamweight champion Jonathan Guzman (22-1, 22 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision on Saturday at Shimazu Arena in Kyoto, Japan.

Oguni was awarded scores of 115-112 on all three cards.

Dominican knockout artist Guzman landed some hard shots in the first couple of rounds before Oguni dropped him in the third with a left hook to the body.

The Japanese fighter was the busier for the remainder of the fight and dropped Guzman with another body shot in the 11th, but the referee ruled it a low blow.

Guzman was making the first defence of the vacant 122-pound belt he won when he knocked out Shingo Wake in the 11th round last July.

Also on the card, three-weight world champion Kazuto Ioka (21-1, 13 KOs) knocked out 18-year-old Thai challenger Stamp Kiatniwat (15-1, 6 KOs) in the seventh round to retain his WBA flyweight title.

Japan's Ioka, 27, rallied back from a second round knockdown and swelled up right eye to knock Kiatniwat down twice in the seventh before referee Rafael Ramos waved it off.
