Parker outpoints Conjanu to retain WBO title
WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (23-0, 18 KOs) successfully defended his title for the first time with a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision over Romanian challenger Razvan Cojanu (16-3, 9 KOs) on Saturday night at the Sparks Arena in Auckland, New Zealand.
Parker landed blow after blow and dominated the entire fight, but was unable to land the KO punch against his former sparring partner.
The New Zealander won by scores of 119-108 and 117-110 twice.
Cojanu, who took the fight on two week’s notice after Parker’s original opponent Hughie Fury pulled out with an injury, did not offer much offence as he was in survival mode throughout the bout. He was deducted a point in the 4th round for holding Parker repeatedly.
This fight was possibly Parker's last on home soil as he is now set for lucrative fights in the UK or US.
