Price vs Thompson rematch on July 6

British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price will face Tony Thompson in a rematch at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on July 6.

The American southpaw Thompson, (37-3) caused a massive upset by stopping Price, (15-1) in the second round last month.

Price's promoter Frank Maloney has been locked in talks with two-time world title challenger Thompson, 41, for two weeks and contracts were finally signed last night. Maloney said "There was a rematch clause in the contract for the first fight, but it was still far from easy to make it happen. Because it was such a big win for Thompson there was a lot of interest in him from rival promoters but we got there and he has signed."

The 29-year-old Price, is set to fight Dereck Chisora in September as long as he gains revenge against Thompson.
