Quigg sees off Stephane Jamoye in three
WBA super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg (29-0-2, 22 KOs) stopped Belgian challenger Stephane Jamoye (26-6, 16 KOs) in the third round at the Phones 4U Arena in Manchester, England.
Jamoye had stepped in as a replacement opponent, but was not daunted by the task and landed a few crisp shots as Quigg mainly targeted Jamoye’s body for the first two rounds.
The end came in the next round, Quigg sent him to the canvas in the third with a well-placed right hand to the body. Jamoye beat the count but he had not recovered and referee Terry O’Connor waved the bout off at 1:13 of the round.
After a fourth successful defence of the WBA title, the Bury fighter is now pursuing showdowns with British rival Carl Frampton, who took the IBF belt from Kiko Martinez last weekend, or WBC champion Leo Santa Cruz.
