King Arthur vows to destroy Stieglitz this time
WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham risks his title on Saturday against fellow German Robert Stieglitz at the GETEC-Arena in Magdeburg, Germany live on BoxNation.
"King Arthur" (36-3) faces Stieglitz (43-3) for a second time, having outpointed him back in August. But the champion is promising a much more emphatic conclusion this time.
"We won the first fight and consequently took the world championship. Now it's time for the rematch and we have a clear goal. We have to destroy him and we will do everything we can to reach our goal which showed during our preparations," said Abraham.
However 31-year-old Stieglitz felt the judges got the first fight wrong, which was in Abraham's back yard, this time they clash in the challenger's hometown.
"I didn't lose the belt, I just borrowed it," he said. Of course aiming to win back the WBO strap.
Abraham,33, on the other hand is motivated to keep his belt and promised a real battle. "I am twice as motivated now that Robert wants to win back the title. All I will say is that this fight will turn out to be a war," he added.
On the undercard Commonwealth super middleweight champion George Groves (17-0) takes on Syrian Baker Barakat (37-13-4) in a 8 rounder. Hoping to fight the winner of the main event.
Also Reading veteran Michael Sprott (37-19) boxes unbeaten heavyweight Robert Helenius (18-0) of Finland in a 10-round contest.
