Golden Boy Promotionns CEO Richard Schaefer has confirmed that Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0) will fight Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1) on September 14 at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

The fight will be contested at a catch-weight of 152 pounds with four titles at stake.

Schaefer said "Both fighters feel comfortable at that (weight), so it will obviously be for Canelo's WBC and Ring Magazine belts, and his WBA belt, and for Floyd's WBA super champion belt at 154. It is going to be for all the belts, all the marbles, and it's going to be for (the) pound for pound (status) ...who will be the one?."

This fight is indeed what the fans want. I like Mayweather's chances against normal-sized light middleweights but Canelo is more like a super middleweight that is able to drain down and use that extra size he rehydrates to crush lighter opponents. Mayweather, who at 36 is still the best in the world, but inarguably slipping past his peak a bit. Does that and the size advantage mean Canelo will end Money Mayweather's reign? It might. And it might not.
