Saunders vs Ryder at Olympic Park venue on September 21

The anticipated battle of unbeaten British middleweights Billy Joe Saunders and John Ryder will take place on September 21 at the Olympic Park's Copper Box Arena.

In the first ever boxing show to be held at the Olympic venue, 23-year-old Saunders (17-0) will defend his British title against John Ryder (14-0) live on BoxNation.

Both men risk their unbeaten records before the bout as they  each take on a tune up opponent in July. Saunders will meet Gary O'sullivan on July 20 at Wembley for O'sullivan's WBO International title, whilst Ryder has been announced for Matchroom's July 13 card against an opponent to be confirmed.

Previously known as the Handball Arena, the Copper Box also hosted fencing during the 2012 Olympics and was the goalball venue for the Paralympics.

British basketball side London Lions will become permanent residents at the Copper Box for the 2013-14 British Basketball League season and it will also stage Badminton's London Grand Prix.

The 7,000 venue's quirky name is taken simply from the material which provides the cladding for its box-like exterior, which features 3,000 square meters of partly recycled copper.
