Stevenson sees off Cloud

Adonis Stevenson (22-1) retained his WBC light heavyweight title when he dominated former IBF king Tavouris Cloud (24-2) over seven rounds on Saturday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

The Haiti-born Canadian won when Cloud's corner asked for the bout to be stopped after the 7th round had ended.

In the opening round Stevenson landed a stiff left hand that cut Cloud's left eyelid and the American went down in the 2nd, although referee Mike Griffin ruled it a slip.

Stevenson was easily outboxing Cloud as the rounds played out, resulting in 'Superman' taunting him at one stage in the 4th by standing with his arms strenched out, almost offering a free hit.

Stevenson continued to dominate Cloud and after a barrage from the southpaw hurt Cloud towards the end of the 7th, once the bell sounded Clould's trainer stopped the fight as his boxer was taking a beating and now bleeding from both eyes.

Next up for Stevenson, 36,  will be a mandatory defence against British contender Tony Bellew.

Cloud, 31, suffered his second successive loss after he dropped a unanimous decision to 48-year-old Bernard Hopkins, losing his IBF version of the light heavyweight title in March.
