Terence Crawford to defend against Felix Diaz on May 20
Unbeaten American Terence Crawford (30-0, 21 KOs) will defend his WBC and WBO light welterweight titles against Felix Diaz (19-1, 9 KOs) on May 20 at Madison Square Garden.
Crawford is coming off a one-sided eighth round TKO victory over John Molina Jr in December and will be making his fifth title defence against Diaz, of the Dominican Republic.
After previously winning the WBO lightweight title, Crawford moved up to 140lb in 2015 and won the vacant WBO belt when he defeated Thomas Dulorme by sixth round TKO. Last year he added the WBC title by outpointing Viktor Postol.
Diaz, a 2008 Olympic gold medalist, suffered a controversial points loss to Lamont Peterson at welterweight in 2015 but he has since won his last two fights, including a points win over previously unbeaten Sammy Vasquez last July.
