Uchiyama finishes off Flores in three
WBA super featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama (24-0-1, 20 KOs) stopped Nicaraguan challenger Oliver Flores (27-2-2, 17 KOs) in the third round on Thursday night at the Ota-City General Gymnasium, in Tokyo, Japan.
The Japanese fighter finished off Flores with a left to the body to retain his belt for the 11th time.
Uchiyama hurt Flores with hard shots to the head from the start and by the second round Flores had swelling under his right eye.
Flores landed several punches of his own but Uchiyama took them well and kept firing hard right hands to the head.
A vicious left hook to the body ended the fight at 1:47 of the third with Flores too badly hurt to get back to his feet.
