Usyk outpoints Glowacki to win WBO cruiserweight title
Unbeaten Oleksandr Usyk (10-0, 9 KOs) outpointed WBO cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Glowacki (26-1, 16 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision to capture the world title on Saturday night at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland.
The 2012 Olympic heavyweight gold medallist Usyk used his height, reach, speed and boxing skills to dominate the Polish fighter and win by scores of 119-109, 117-111, 117-111.
In a battle of southpaws, Usyk showed he was the superior boxer from the opening bell. He never stopped moving and countered Glowacki throughout the fight.
Glowacki was aggressive and landed some hard shots in the fourth, but the Ukrainian outlanded and busted up the home fighter as the fight progressed.
A frustrated Glowacki kept trying to come forward and both fighters landed big shots in an exciting final round.
