Vasyl Lomachenko vs Nicholas Walters set for November 26
WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (6-1, 4 KOs) will defend his title against unbeaten Nicholas "Axe Man" Walters (26-0-1, 21 KOs) on November 26 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
Ukraine's Lomachenko, a 2008 and 2012 Olympic gold medalist, won a world title in his third professional bout when he outpointed Gary Russell Jr to win the vacant WBO featherweight title in June 2014. He made three successful defences before moving up to 130 pounds and knocking out Roman Martinez to claim his second world title.
Jamaica's Walters won the WBA featherweight title in 2012 and defended the belt three times, including a sixth-round knockout over Nonito Donaire in October 2014. He moved up to super featherweight and fought Jason Sosa to a controversial majority draw last December, although most observers had Walters winning easily.
Promoter Bob Arum said: "Forget their weight class. With more than 3/4 of their victories coming by way of knockout, they punch and win like heavyweights! We know how the fight is going to end. The question is, which fighter will end it."
