Vitali fights on but Haye is not next
WBC heavyweight chamion Vitali Klitschko has given a clear indication that he is willing to fight on, but any fight with David Haye will not happen soon.
The 41-year-old, who was tipped to retire for a career in politics, claims he must have a mandatory fight first and that Haye, 32, will have to wait untill after that. "If David wants to fight, he has to wait because I have to defend my title against an official contender from the WBC," he said.
Klitschko didn't close the door completely on a fight with Haye and is willing to negotiate if the Londoner gets himself in a position to be mandatory challenger. "If David Haye has a high position on the world rankings, we can fight each other but it will not be soon. The fight against Haye is not everything for me." Klitschko added.
Former WBA holder Haye is expected to announce tomorrow a fight in late June or early July, followed by another outing in late October or early November, after which he hopes to be in-line to face the elder Klitschko barring the Ukrainian stepping away from the ring before then.
